Talk About the Most Luxurious Collections I've Seen In Years....
I live for it! You live for it! My blog lives for it! I'm talking about men's fashion week! For the next week and a half, I am going to be posting commentary non-stop and keeping everyone up to date with highlights of the upcoming Milan and Paris shows.
Milan fashion week started off today with a bang. Blue chip houses like Dolce and Gabbana and Burberry sent out their Fall-Winter 2011 collections this morning and I am sincerely impressed with how luxurious the first few shows have been.
A couple of highlights from todays collections include:
In my opinion this collection is Raf Simons' most "Jil Sander" collection to date. This season, instead of focusing on his techno-athletic aesthetic; Mr. Simons explored the Jil Sander signatures that he usually reserves for his women's collections such as luxurious fabrication, intense sobriety, and a very cerebral, subversive perspective.
Costume National Fall-Winter 2011
Another intensely sumptuous and subversive look, but this time from Costume National.

Several designers showed pieces today in shades of lapis lazuli which, in my opinion; is a clever choice because it's a color that is both unusual and striking. A couple of examples are a interesting knit from Costume National (pictured above) and this indescribable blue suit from Roberto Cavalli (below).

Burberry Prorsum Fall-Winter 2011
Once again Christopher Bailey showed an incredibly successful collection of entirely desirable pieces. The highlight, of course; was the outerwear selection. Two of my favorites include the best tweed jacket I have ever seen, and this "Jaguar Mink" fitted coat that I NEED to have. This second look is already in the running to be my obsession of the season and I'm coming down with (In honor of Milan's fashion week) la farfalle en el estomago.

This finale look may be the most beautiful jacket I have ever seen....

If today's shows are any indication of how the rest of Paris and Milan's shows are going to be, then believe me; I am going to be one very happy camper!
